Specialty Veterinarians
A veterinary
specialist is a veterinarian who has completed additional training in
their area of expertise. The average length of a veterinary residency
is 3-years in addition to the four years of Veterinary School following a bachelor's degree. Once they complete their residency they must complete a one year internship and an
exhausting examination to earn their board certification.
